Course Description

The MISM/MBA double degree provides professionals with advanced skills and knowledge across the complex areas of both business and information systems. This unique program enables students to achieve the aims and objectives of both the current Swinburne MISM and MBA courses in a time and cost effective way. On completion of the MISM/MBA, students are awarded two degrees, the MISM, and the MBA.

In addition to studying the full MISM, the MBA component not only offers the opportunity to acquire contemporary management knowledge and skills, it also provides students with the ability to apply that knowledge in an innovative, creative and entrepreneurial way.

Entrance Requirements

MISM/MBA requires at least three years appropriate professional experience and completion of a relevant undergraduate degree at a credit level from a recognised university.

Students who have a degree which includes some information technology subjects may be eligible for exemption from a number of subjects.

Students who have completed a bachelor degree with or graduate diploma in information systems may be eligible for up to 4 credit exemptions.

Current students in either the MISM or MBA may transfer to the MISM/MBA double degree subject to the requirements of the double degree as set out above.


Program Structure

The course involves 18 subjects. Up to four subjects will generally be taken each semester and two subjects will be taken in a summer semester. Entry is possible in both Semester 1 (February) and Semester 2 (July).

Electives are chosen from the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology subjects offered by the Faculty of Information and Communication Technologies, Program Coordinator approval must be sought.
